🔍 Where the Quoted Price Actually Hides
Most buyers benchmark stainless steel cleanroom panels by USD/m² and stop there. That is the fastest way to buy a downgraded wall. The real bill is built from six layers, and each one can swing the number without changing the panel photo on the supplier's brochure.

🧪 1 — Stainless Grade: Don't Pay 316L for a Dry Corridor
- 201 stainless steel cleanroom panels — nickel-lean, cheaper, acceptable for dry warehouse partitions only. Fails in CIP, salt spray and VHP zones within 12–24 months.
- 304 stainless steel cleanroom panels — the default for food prep, general pharma Grade C/D, lab corridors. Resists most alcohols, peroxides and dilute acids when passivated.
- 316L stainless steel cleanroom panels — molybdenum-bearing, the only honest choice for coastal sites, seafood/food washdown, sterile API, cytotoxic suites and high-chlorine disinfection. Expect a 30–60% skin premium over 304.
⚠️ Procurement trap: a quote that just says "SS panel" without mill cert, spectro grade stamp or Ni/Cr/Mo readout should be treated as unverified before the LC opens.
🧱 2 — Core Material: Fire Class and Core Density Drive the Middle of the Bill
Stainless steel cleanroom panels inherit fire rating, flatness and moisture behavior from the sandwich core, not the skin:
- Rock wool (A1, ~80–120 kg/m³) — GMP walls, OR partitions, general clean corridors. Ask for declared density; 80 kg/m³ panels sag and rattle in tall runs.
- MgO / magnesium oxysulfate (A1, low moisture uptake) — wet food rooms, cold-side pharma, anti-mold partitions. Typically +10–15% over rock wool.
- Aluminum honeycomb (A1, ultra-light, high flatness) — suspended ceilings, semiconductor ISO 5–6, where dead-load and outgassing matter. Premium tier.
- PU / PIR (B1–B2, top insulation) — cold stores and temp-controlled cleanrooms only; not recommended for pharma GMP main enclosures due to smoke and combustibility.
- EPS / paper honeycomb — reject for any regulated enclosure; fails A1 and leaves exposed core at cut edges.

On the lamination process, the difference is structural, not cosmetic:
- Manual / handmade stainless steel cleanroom panels — adhesive troweled by hand, clamped in jigs, edge trim added later. Acceptable for small bespoke boxes; risk of starved bond, voids and core shift on long runs.
- Continuous hot-press / automated line stainless steel cleanroom panels — metered adhesive, heated nip, inline four-edge steel or aluminum channel seal. Flatness, peel strength and airtight joint consistency stay inside spec — the version SAMZOON runs for hospital, lab and export GMP orders.
📐 4 — Hidden Variables Overseas Buyers Miss on the PO
When comparing two quotes for stainless steel cleanroom panels, force the vendor to state all of the following before awarding:
- 🔩 Face gauge vs actual gauge — "0.5 mm" on paper vs ultrasonic reading on arrival
- 🧪 Core cert — A1 test report, density kg/m³, no silent EPS substitution
- 🪟 Tolerance & width — ±0.05 mm skin, ±1.5 mm length, square-cut edges
- 🧰 Edge closure — formed stainless/aluminum trim fully enclosing core (non-negotiable for cleanroom class)
- 🏷️ Fasteners & sealant — 304/316L trims only, neutral-cure silicone, no carbon-steel clips
- 📦 Sample & QC pack — SAMZOON issues free sample skins, batch mill certs and South China project node drawings so the GC can close acceptance before container release.
🏭 SAMZOON Sourcing Note (Foshan Source Side)
For stainless steel cleanroom panels on medical, lab, food-GMP and electronics projects, SAMZOON supplies from Foshan with:
